The National Conference of Black Mayors, Inc. (NCBM) is truly honored that the City of Atlanta will once again host the National Conference of Black Mayors Annual Convention. With Atlanta being a cultural and economic powerhouse of the southeast, we believe Atlanta is the ideal location for the 39th Annual Convention themed “Restore, Rebuild, Renew: Leaving No City Behind,” scheduled to convene, May 29 – June 2, 2013. The convention will provide the opportunity for Atlanta to serve as host to 700 attendees ranging from NCBM mayoral members, local and statewide elected officials, Congressional leaders, federal department representatives, foreign dignitaries, international delegations, civic leaders, corporate representatives, educators, entrepreneurs, community organizers, youth and academics. We have considerately planned convention logistics and activities in an effort to ensure that all participants have an enjoyable and memorable experience, from the informative workshop modules and presenters, to the exciting social events and impactful activities that the beautiful City of Atlanta has to offer, as we showcase the leadership of Atlanta’s Mayor.

The convention will be headquartered at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta, where the conference will address some of our communities’ most pressing issues, such as job creation, housing, health, sustainability, green technology, international trade, good governance and ethics, broadband and more. It will include relevant workshops, panel discussions, and addresses by some of the top political leaders. The needs of our cities are reflected in every aspect of municipal government such as:

- Sustainable Development                                                    - Economic Recovery
- Human Rights                                                                       - Education
- Public Safety and Criminal Justice                                      - Human Resource Development
- Healthy Families, Healthy Communities                              - Housing
- Economic Development                                                        - Municipal Development
- Financial Literacy                                                                   - Infrastructure Development
- Green Jobs                                                                             - Clean Technologies
- Broadband: Digital Divide                                                     - Municipal Investment

NCBM has focused its efforts on creating a conference that allows its membership to access resources needed to benefit their respective communities. Convention presenters are sensitive to the needs of our nation’s communities. The listed areas of focus will be addressed as training modules and plenary sessions. Ultimately, it is our aim to produce an environment conducive to our membership providing the space and opportunity for greater understanding and work

The convention also offers partnership opportunities for the greater Atlanta business community. NCBM conference attendees are global in perspective. With Atlanta as the host city and the National Office headquarters, the organization is positioned to further enhance and birth new opportunities for participating businesses.

We look forward to your arrival, as we continue preparing for this year’ annual convention with the greater understanding of the importance of restoring, rebuilding and renewing towards leaving no city behind.

Sincerely,
